The Walk in the Past Trail is a quick and easy hiking route in Yoho National Park that will lead you up a forested hillside that offers some nice views of the surrounding mountain terrain. Although some sections of the trail are a bit steep, these are short lived and the trail is well-maintained, making it perfectly suitable for hikers of all ages. Make sure to stop in at the campground booth to get a pamphlet with all sorts of interesting information about the railroad history of the area.
Getting there
To reach the Walk in the Past parking area from Field, make your way to the northeast for 2.2mi along BC-1 and turn left onto Yoho Valley Road. After 0.9mi, you will find the entrance to the campground/parking area on the left.

A Walk in the Past is a fun interpretive trail that is popular with families and people camping in the Kicking Horse Campground of Yoho National Park. The trail climbs uphill through the forest and crosses over a rail line, providing information about the history of the railway in the area. With beautiful scenery and the chance to learn some interesting facts, this quick 1.6mi trail is a nice break from some of the longer hikes in the area.
