Sheepeater Cliff Trail Description

The Sheepeater Cliff Trail is a gorgeous hike in Yellowstone. However, this trail can get a bit icy in the late season. If you are visiting Yellowstone in October or later, we recommend bringing along a set of traction devices such as microspikes for some extra grip. With absolutely incredible views at every turn, the Sheepeater Cliff Trail is a photographer’s dream. This route truly is a hidden gem in Yellowstone National Park.

Beginning at the Sheepeater Picnic area, follow the path northeast along the Gardener River for about half a mile, then turn back and retrace your steps to the picnic site.

If you are looking for more to explore in the area, check out the Bunsen Peak Trail nearby.
