Noon Rocks Hike Description
Reconnect with nature and enjoy a relaxing experience as you hike the Noon Rocks Trail. This incredible adventure affords anyone a good time with its epic alpine scenery and vibrant wildflowers. Enjoy views of Whiskey Mountain, Squaretop Mountain, and Shale Mountain from atop the Noon Rocks. Travel a bit further, and views of Ross Lake will unfold before your eyes. We love this hike, and lucky for you, it is relatively undiscovered, so you will likely have the route to yourself! Note that while unlikely, we encourage hikers to bring along some bear spray in the case of a bear encounter.
Setting out from the trailhead, the Ross Lake Trail travels west past the Whiskey Basin and into the meadowlands. As you climb, be sure you enjoy the view of the badlands behind you! After some hiking, the path will reach an intersection—keep right here. Beyond this point, the trail will wind between meadows and tree shade into the alpine terrain. When you notice the terrain getting increasingly rocky, you will likely be near the summit of Noon Rocks. Though views of the encompassing Winds have been present along the way, this vantage point boasts unrivaled vistas of Torrey Peak, Middle Mountain, and The Guardian in the South.
If you still have some gas left in the tank, continue further down the trail towards Ross Lake. Marvel in the beauty of the shimmering lake bound by the granite bluffs, then head back the way you came to the trailhead.
