The Dickson Park to Middle Lake Hike is a beautiful adventure in the Wind River Range, just beckoning your exploration. This stimulating trek will keep you on your toes by exhibiting a diversity of flora and fauna along the way. As with all hikes in the area, make sure you have a can of bear spray in the case of an encounter. Additionally, as this route travels into the high country, it is important to the mindful of afternoon storms. Lastly, this lovely trail is quite primitive a poorly signposted, so make sure you download the trail GPS before departure.

Setting out from the Smith Lake Trailhead, the Dickson Park to Middle Lake Hike crosses a bridge over an area of wetlands before diverting south. Note this route is shared with horseback riders, so be mindful of passers-by. Weaving between dense tree stands and lush meadowlands. Passing Dishpan Butte, the trail will climb northwest into the mountain cirque decorated with lakes.

After some hiking, you will reach Smith Lake before finally arriving at your destination—Middle Lake. Admire the beauty of the basin bound by the craggy granite summits, then head back the way you came.
