Rock Wren, Yetman, and Starr Pass Loop Description

Tucson Mountain Park has lots of trails that can make for excellent half-day outings, and the trip on Rock Wren, Yetman, and Star Pass trails is a loop that lets you appreciate the scrubby desert scenery and the wildlife that live in the park. This moderately difficult trail is well marked and shared by hikers and mountain bikers.

This route is quite rocky, so we recommend sturdy boots. Bring plenty of water and avoid hiking in the heat of the day if you can. Additionally, remember that dogs are not permitted in the park, which is important to adhere to due to coyote sightings on this trail.

From the trailhead, hike south, curving around a hill and across the end of a wash to where the trail splits. Stay right and make your way over the hills to hike over a nice, flat stretch. Go straight through the 5-way junction to follow the curvature of the low peak in front of you. At Yetman Trail, turn right. Go right twice to get onto Starr Pass Trail, which will lead you back to the trailhead.
