Ridge View Trail Description
The Ridge View Trail runs along the far southwestern tip of Tucson’s Saguaro National Park East, known for its awesome hiking routes and mountain views. This trail usually feels easier for regular hikers and moderate for brand-new hikers, so enjoy it as a relaxing route if you’re a regular out here. It’s somewhat short, but it’s definitely sweet with its rugged desert views and quiet nature.
This route sees mixed traffic, so watch for mountain bikers. You can also expect to see horseback riders. Announce yourself if passing them from behind. Bring lots of water and wear sun protection as this route gets hot, even in the winter.
From the trailhead, stay left immediately to head towards the low peak ahead. The trail is well worn and easy to follow. Most of the view comes in after you pass the light gray path and get onto the brown path. There is a section that makes it seem like you should keep going straight, however, there is a small cairn to stop you and if you look left, you’ll see where the trail continues. To mitigate these challenges, download the route ahead of time. Climb up the ridge and spend some time enjoying the view before retracing your steps.
