The Hope Camp Hike is a trip along a dirt road with good scenery and no major challenges to consider. While this might feel more like a casual walk to more experienced hikers, it’s a great way to get outside for new hikers and families. The footing is very even and the trail is easy to follow. Keep an eye out for mixed traffic as there could be bikers on the road with you. Expect moderate traffic on this hike.

Hope Camp Hike Description

The Hope Camp Hike is a very simple trip through the southern end of Saguaro National Park East. While this route will feel more like a casual nature walk to seasoned hikers, it’s ideal for those who want to dip a toe in hiking without any major obstacles. The trail is on a dirt road with even footing, and it’s almost impossible to get lost or find yourself off-track.

Saguaro National Park East charges a small fee to access the trails. If this route feels too short for a paid adventure, we suggest bringing a picnic along. Additionally, we also suggest packing lots of water and wearing sun protection. It’s best to do this hike in the cooler months and outside of the heat of the day if you can.

From the trailhead at the end of the road, the Hope Camp hike makes a gradual arching curve north, ending in a semi-circle just outside of the southern park bounds. You’ll follow Camp Hope Trail across Coyote Wash, the low mountains and saguaros of the park dominating your view. The route ends its northward curve and begins to drop south, where it ends just before Rincon Creek. From here, turn back and take the same route to the trailhead.
