Black Rock Loop Trail Description
The Black Rock Loop Trail is a splendid easy hike in the northern panhandle of the Sweetwater Preserve. Without needing to leave Tucson, you can get out in nature and enjoy a well-maintained, well-marked trail. We like this one for families and solo hikers who want an easy trail that won’t get them lost or too tired out.
Even though this is an easier hike, bring water and aim to hike outside the heat of the day. This hike does get busy on the weekends, so try it out midweek if you’re able to.
From the trailhead, keep right onto Saguaro Vista Trail. You’ll meet up with the main trail soon. Keep right twice to get to the split of the main loop. Keep right here and continue right up to the edge of the preserve, where you’ll make a wide loop and head in the opposite direction. The trail will meet, then split again. Stay left for a different view, then get back onto the route that leads you back to the trailhead.
