Trekking the O Circuit: Grey Glacier to Lake Pehoé is the beautifully scenic fifth leg of this incredible long-distance route. While out on the trail, you will work your way through an undulating landscape flanked by the rugged mountains on your left and the frigid waters of Grey Lake on your right. This route certainly features less elevation gain than the previous leg of the O Circuit; however, the undulating terrain will still give you a run for your money!

O Circuit: Grey Glacier to Lake Pehoé Trail Description

A welcome change from the large elevation gains of the previous day, the O Circuit: Grey Glacier to Lake Pehoé trek features smaller climbs throughout and a shorter overall distance. Traversing the undulating landscape of Chilean Patagonia, you will be inundated with incredible views of Torres del Paine National Park, making this a beautiful transition point where the O Circuit meets the much busier W Circuit.

Setting out from Camping Grey, you will follow the trail as it leads in a southeast direction alongside the shores of Grey Lake. Here, you will be able to enjoy beautifully scenic views across the vast expanse of water and the floating ice that dots the surface.

After traversing the Río Olguin Gorge, the trail will climb further uphill to the southeast. This portion of the trek can be very windy at times, so try to focus on the natural beauty of the landscape around you. Eventually, you will pass by the Laguna Los Patos, which features a scenic viewpoint on the eastern edge of the Lake.

Once you have taken in the views, you will follow the trail as it descends to the southeast. Here, you will enjoy sweeping views overlooking Lake Pehoé, as you hike gently downhill to the Paine Grande campsite. After taking some time to explore or set up camp, make sure to get some rest in anticipation of your long day ahead on the O Circuit: Lake Pehoé to Cuernos.
