The Mount Reba Hike boasts amazing scenery of the High Sierra. Marvel at the beauty of the Mokelumne River Canyon and the looming Mokelumne Peak from atop the granite summit. Though this route is accessible year-round, the winter offers the most fun experience as you can hike up then ski back down the trail.

Mount Reba Hike Description

Immerse yourself in the alpine terrain and revel in the grandeur of the surrounding mountainous landscape from the mountainside. This is a popular route for intrepid backcountry skiers seeking fresh powder in winter. Note the path is almost entirely unmarked, so make sure you download the trail GPS before heading out! When hiking up in the winter months, be sure to bring a pair of snowshoes, and in the summer, be mindful of rattlesnakes as you ascend the mountain.

Setting out from the Bear Valley Resort Parking Lot, the Mount Reba Hike travels over the Mount Reba Road and northeast up to a granite knob before trekking eastwardly over to the Odenn Trail. In the summer, when the trail is visible, you can trek this route northeastwardly briefly before again blazing your own trail. Hiking north, the incline will become increasingly intense, steeply ascending a ridge. When you reach the top of the granite ridge, head northwest to the summit of Mount Reba.

You will be granted awe-inspiring views of the Mokelumne River Canyon from atop the summit. Revel in the grandeur of the dramatic landscape and Mokelumne Peak looming in the northwest. Then, if you are hiking, retrace your footing back along the path back to the trailhead, and if you are skiing, enjoy the epic run!
