Racton Ruins Walk Description

The Racton Ruins Walk is a beautiful stroll along the English countryside that showcases views of many different areas. It is heavily shaded throughout the wooded areas, so on a hot, sunny day, you can still enjoy yourself on this walk. Beginning at the parking area, walk down Monument Lane and travel uphill 560 meters, where you will reach Racton Ruins, which has been rumoured to have held smugglers tunnels that burrowed all the way to the coast and was laced with hidden doorways and staircases. As you continue on, you will enter the woods, where captivating views of the coastline come into focus. As you wander on, you will come across views of the Stansted House, which became famous because of “The Enchanted Forest” novel written by Lord Bessborough.

You will then arrive at some cottages, where gorgeous views of the Chichester Harbour and Solent can be seen. Pass through some stiles and gates, and you will come across an electric fence, and you will see an orange plastic handle with a hook, use this to pass through the fence with caution. Make your way through a few fields, following the path, and you arrive back at the parking area from which you started.
