The Cocking to Amberley Walk is a gorgeous stroll along ancient Roman roadways. You will pass the Bronze Age Burial Mounds as you walk along the path and stumble upon the quaint village of Amberley. You will see views of the ocean from Bignor Hill in the distance, and you will enter Arun Valley.

Getting there

To get to the Cocking to Amberley walk from Midhurst, head west toward Church Hill and turn left. Continue onto South Street and then turn onto Chichester Road. In 0.9mi, continue onto A286 and in 1.6mi, turn right onto Bell Lane, and in 0.4mi, you will arrive at your destination.

Cocking to Amberley Walk Description

The Cocking to Amberley Walk takes you back in time to ancient Roman roadways, quaint villages and boasts views of the sea in the distance from Bignor Hill. Beginning in the Cocking Hill car park, follow the path along the signage on your way to Bignor Hill. As you continue to walk, you will arrive at Bignor Hill, where views of the coastline and South Downs National Park can be seen in the distance. Continue walking along the chalk path, and you will arrive in the town of Amberley, where this path ends. There is a car park in Amberley at the train station, where you can park for free as this is a one-way route.

Remember that this is a one-way route, so you will need to ensure you have a way back to your car.
