The Beacon Hill and Exton Walk is a beautiful stroll that takes you through Meon Valley, the small town of Exton, and dense woodlands. Take in views atop of Beacon Hill of the Isle of Wight that rests below. The climb to the top of Beacon Hill is quite steep, but the views are worth the workout.

Getting there

To get to Beacon Hill and Exton from East Meon, get on Liphook - Petersfield Bypass/A3 from Winchester Rd/A272 and after 4.5mi, follow A3 to Portsmouth Rd/A333 in Hindhead. Take the A333 exit from A3 and follow Portsmouth Road/A333 and A287 to Beacon Hill Road in Beacon Hill, and arrive at your destination.

Beacon Hill and Exton Walk Description

Hampshire’s Beacon Hill and Exton Walk is a beautiful walk that has several amazing highlights. There is a steep climb as you get close to Beacon Hill and conditions can be muddy at times on the trail, so ensure you have good walking shoes on. The trail calls for the navigation of several gates and 12 stiles, all of which are dog-friendly. The walk begins with you strolling through the countryside of Meon Valley and takes you along a path through dense woodlands.

As you continue walking, you will come across the small village of Exton that showcases quaint cottages along the streets about two-thirds of the way around the path. You will also see an ancient church and walk along the Meon River.

As you get closer to Beacon Hill, you will begin to ascend and upon summiting, you will be met with captivating views of the Isle of Wight and Solent below. When you are finished exploring this area, follow the path to take you back to where you started as this is a circuit walk.
