Congress Loop Hike

The Congress Loop is yet another amazing way to explore and experience what the Giant Forest Grove has to offer. This year-round trailhead is limited as an accessible entrance in the summer months but becomes available to all in the winter season. No matter the weather, this wonderful trail is sure to impress. Indulge in the grandeur of the world’s largest sequoia tree and its monstrous neighbors. This area sees plenty of traffic, so come prepared to share the trail.

Setting out from the trailhead, this hike follows the leftmost Sherman Tree Trail to the enormous sequoia. Revel in its unfathomable size, then continue to the intersection where you will merge onto the Congress Trail. The Congress Trail will intersect with Sherman Creek as it progresses through the beautiful grove. Eventually, you will reach The Senate and The House—two amazing collections of sequoias, and The President—the oldest known living sequoia.

Follow this route through the woodlands, passing the General Lee Tree and McKinley Tree. Ultimately the path will again cross the Sherman Creek before delivering you back to the trailhead.
