Cedar Grove Overlook Hike Description
The Cedar Grove Overlook Trail boasts amazing scenery every step of the way. This wonderful trek ascends the vertiginous canyon wall, requiring the navigation of countless switchbacks’. Demanding a steep climb along an exposed path, it is important to pack plenty of water to stay hydrated! Be sure to wear a sturdy pair of footwear to easily maneuver the rocky path and avoid a rolled ankle along the way. Note entrance to the park costs $35USD per vehicle or $20USD per person for pedestrians or cyclists.
Your trek along the Cedar Grove Overlook begins from the Hotel Creek Trailhead. Setting out from here, you will be guided northeast along the Hotel Creek Trail towards the namesake creek. Here, the path will redirect you north, leading through what seems like a never-ending set of switchbacks. Taking breaks as needed, you will ultimately graduate the switchbacks. Here you will be rerouted west to the overlook.
Take a seat atop the rocks and enjoy the view as you catch your breath. Admire the panoramic views of the Sierra Nevada’s granite crests, then, when you are ready, retrace your footing back down to the trailhead.
