The Mescal and Yucca Loop is a beautiful hike that leads you along the crescent of Mescal Mountain. The loop is shared by hikers and mountain bikers and it’s a relatively easy trail with modest elevation gain. There isn’t much shade, so bring lots of water and sunscreen. You can extend this hike using the connecting trails if you want a bit of a longer adventure. Expect light-moderate traffic on this route.

Mescal and Yucca Loop Description
The Mescal and Yucca Loop is an enjoyable hike suitable for all skill levels that skirts around the base of Mescal Mountain. The views are very classic Sedona, with red rock formations in all directions. This trail can be extended using interconnecting routes if you want.
From the trailhead, take the trail to where it splits and stay left onto Mescal Trail (Long Canyon Tail goes off to the right). The trail is mostly flat and relaxed as you amble through the desert towards Mescal Mountain. Stay right to walk along the crescent-shaped base of the mountain.
Stay left where the Canyon of Fools Trail splits off. Stay left as you loop around to Yucca Trail, which returns you to Mescal Trail and the trailhead.
