Eagle Lake Trail

The Eagle Lake Trail is a wonderfully scenic nature walk. Traveling along overgrown trails and stream crossings, this path demands an adventurous spirit. Navigating tricky terrain is all part of the fun, and makes the reward all the more valuable and worthwhile! Once you maneuver the woodland trail, you will be granted views of a crystalline lake that exhibits epic vistas of the Sawatch Range’s snow-dusted, craggy peaks. Note that the road to the trailhead is subject to seasonal closure.

Embark on your excursion to Eagle Lake from the trailhead off Woods Lake Road. From here, the Eagle Lake Trail will guide hikers northeast through abundant aspen groves and along the northern shore of Woods Lake. Navigate the overgrown path and you will eventually pass a beautiful waterfall, where you can enjoy the ambient sounds and hypnotizing sights of the running waters before continuing your trek. Now climbing up a steep ridge, you will eventually arrive at the shimmering waters of Eagle Lake.

From the lakeshore, you will be granted an unparalleled view of the blue-hued lake that sits in the foreground of dramatic craggy peaks. Revel in the scenery and admire the grandeur of the mountains before beginning your return. When you are ready, retrace your footing along the path back to the trailhead.
