Boulder Lake via Boulder Creek Hike Description

Demanding creek crossing and the navigation of a scree field, the Boulder Lake via Boulder Creek Hike is an exciting adventure. Tour a more remote area of the Salmon-Challis National Forest and revel in the diversity of flora and fauna on this pleasant trek. Be sure to wear a comfy pair of footwear to avoid rolling an ankle on the uneven and rocky terrain. Note that while the route is not well-signposted it is pretty easy to follow, though bringing along the trail GPS is always a wise choice! Just don’t forget your camera; the scenery is picture-perfect.

Embark on your journey to Boulder Lake from the trailhead signposted for Boulder Creek. Setting out from here, you will be led southwestward, over a gurgling stream to a rock cairn. From here, you will cross over a bridge into the forested canyon of Boulder Creek. Enjoy the sights and sounds of the charming creek as you climb into the woodlands. After some hiking, the path will curve south, passing through a meadow before commencing the ascent through the rock field.

Mind your footing on the rugged terrain, and you will eventually crest the shoreline of the shimmering alpine pool. Rejuvenate your tired feet in the chilly waters and revel in the grandeur of the looming bluffs. When you are set to head back, retrace your steps to the trailhead.
