Wildcat Camp Trail Description
This epic trek is not for the faint of heart, but we recommend it for intermediate hikers and those seeking a challenge. Plunging down the over the headlands, this trek demands the climb back up to the trailhead after exploring the beach—so you must save some energy! Additionally, as much of this route is exposed, we encourage you to wear sun protection and dress in layers as the proximity to the coast often warrants windy conditions!
Embark on your adventure along the Wildcat Camp Trail from the Stewart Trailhead. From here, the Stewart Trail will guide adventurers up to the saddle of Firtop Mountain before beginning the winding descent to the shoreline. As you wander along the path, there will be several off-shooting and merging trails; ignore these and continue along the route signposted for the Stewart Trail. The path will soon run parallel to a creek, passing Wildcat Camp and ultimately delivering you to the beach.
Explore Wildcat Beach, which is often decorated with elephant seals. Admire the view of the steep coastal cliffs that bound the ocean, and if time permits, follow the crowds to Alamere Falls, a rare tidal fall. When you are ready to return, simply climb back up the path back to the trailhead.
