Old Pine, Sky, and Meadow Loop Description

The Old Pine, Sky, and Meadow Loop is ideal for intermediate hikers and families with older children. Discover the natural variety of the wilderness, from elk, deer, and slugs, to ferns, huckleberry bushes, and fir trees. Due to this route’s proximity to the ocean, you can expect windy and foggy conditions; we encourage you to dress in layers. Additionally, though not necessary, the trail GPS may prove useful, as there are route changes.

Setting out from the Bear Valley Trailhead, the Old Pine, Sky, and Meadow Loop follows the Bear Valley Trail southward, running parallel to the gurgling creek. Not long after your departure, you will reach an intersection and veer right to be diverted onto the Meadow Trail. This route will gradually climb through the meadowlands and up to a junction with the Sky Trail. Keep right here and the Sky Trail will lead you to the Sky Campground. If you aren’t camping, head south along the Sky Trail, before connecting with the Old Pine Trail.

This route will travel through the woodlands and down along Coast Creek into Bear Valley and Divide Meadow. At this point, head left along the Bear Valley Trail, through the meadow sometimes decorated with elk, all the way back to the trailhead.
