Wolfscote and Biggin Dale Circular Description

Walking the Wolfscote and Biggin Dale Circular is a relatively easy journey through urban, riverside, and farmland terrain that can be enjoyed by walkers of almost any skill level. While there is a small amount of elevation gain along the route, it is more than manageable. The trail initially sets out from the village of Hartington and heads south across the countryside to meet up with the winding River Dove in the Beresford Dale National Nature Reserve. From here, you will follow closely along the river’s edge, as it flows through Wolfscote Dale at the foot of Wolfscote Hill. Reaching a point at the edge of the hill where the river is met by a brook, head north along the trail to pass through the scenic expanse of Biggin Dale and eventually arrive at the edge of the road near the village of Biggin. From here, make your way to the northwest to cut across the picturesque English countryside on the final leg of the journey back to the village of Hartington.
