Hayfield to Chinley Circular Walk

The Hayfield to Chinley Circular Trail is a scenic walking route on the western edge of Derbyshire county that will take you across the undulating landscape for views of the surrounding area. While out on the trail, you will leave the charming village behind and traverse some open farmland before climbing up the moor for some nice views overlooking New Mills and the River Goyt. The walk might be a bit boggy at times, but the beautiful views across the valley will make up for any rough patches along the trail.
Getting there
To reach the trailhead for the Hayfield to Chinley Circular from Glossop, drive south on Victoria Street for 4.8mi and turn left onto Church Street. Follow this for 0.2mi and continue straight onto Market Street, where you will find the trailhead in front of the Pack Horse pub.

Hayfield to Chinley Circular Trail Description
Walking the Hayfield to Chinley Circular Walk is a popular activity along the western edge of the Peak District to the gently climbing terrain and beautiful views that stretch out across the Derbyshire/Cheshire border. Setting out from the trailhead in the village of Hayfield, make your way south along the road and traverse the mixture of open farmland and forest as you begin the climb uphill towards the moor. Continue south across the moor, as the trail brings you to the southernmost point of the route near the summit of Chinley Churn. From here, you will follow Overhill Road to the north as it drops a small amount of elevation along the hillside. Enjoy the beautiful views overlooking New Mills and the winding River Goyt below before descending the hillside to the northeast to arrive back in the village where you began.
