Damflask Reservoir Walk Description

The Damflask Reservoir Walk is a laid back and easily accessible trail, and because of this, it can be quite busy on weekends. If you are looking to enjoy a leisurely stroll without throngs of people hanging around, try arriving early or on off-peak days for a bit of solitude by the water’s edge. Additionally, stretches of the trail can be quite muddy, especially in the spring. Wear proper walking footwear when setting out for this walk.

Although it can be a bit busy, this relaxing walk is perfect for a quiet stroll along the edge of the reservoir without any real challenging sections of trail. The walk is very flat and features well-maintained paths, and the scenic views across the water make it all the more suitable for walkers of every skill level.

Setting out from the trailhead, follow Lamb Hill for 345ft and turn right to cross over School Bridge, picking up the trail on the left hand side shortly after. Follow the path along the edge of the wood as it gradually enters into the tree cover and runs parallel to the edge of the Damflask Reservoir. With the water on your left and the open farmland on your right, follow the trail for 1.16mi, as you walk along the western side of the reservoir and eventually meet up with Ughill Pond.

Continue along the edge of the reservoir and take in the views across the calm water as the trail turns toward the east. 0.3mi after Ughill Pond, the trail will meet up with the road to cross over the flowing waters of the River Loxley. After crossing the river, continue along the road for 0.2mi and keep left to make your way along the eastern side of the reservoir.

Follow the road for 0.1mi, before taking a path to the left to enter into the cover of the trees along the edge of the water. Enjoy the views of the reservoir from the opposite perspective, as you make your way past the Sheffield Vikings Sailing Club and continue to the northwest under the shady canopy of the forest. After 0.8mi, you will come to a junction with the road. Follow this to the left to return to the village of Low Bradfield having completed the Damflask Reservoir Walk. Once there, you can pop into The Plough for some post-walk refreshments, or head back to your vehicle for the return journey home.
