Tahquitz Peak Loop Hike Description

The Tahquitz Peak Loop Hike takes you to the Tahquitz Peak Fire Lookout, where astounding scenery awaits. However, the strenuous trail winding to the peak also grants phenomenal natural images. The hike may tire you out, but at least it rewards you throughout! From the trailhead, go left to head towards Tahquitz Peak. Once you reach the peak, at 8720ft, you’ll continue along the loop to eventually get back to the trailhead. You will also pass by a few backcountry campsites en route: South Ridge Yellow Post #1, #2, and #3.

Before you hit up the Tahquitz Peak Loop Hike, you will need a free day permit. Stop at a San Jacinto NFS office, and you’ll find the permits outside. You will also need an Adventure Pass to station your car at Humber Park.

Bring microspikes if you’re hiking the Tahquitz Peak Loop Hike in winter! If you think this hike might be too tricky, you could also look into Tahquitz Peak via Devil’s Slide Trail. It’s still a challenging hike, but slightly more manageable than this one.
