If you are looking to explore the rich history of the Northumberland region while taking in the beautiful views across its rugged landscape, then the Kirknewton Hillfort Walk is the perfect route to do so. Be sure to keep your dog on a lead throughout this walk, as there will likely be some wild Cheviot Goats roaming around the hillside.
Setting out from the trailhead opposite the village hall in Kirknewton, you will make your way south and pass by the Church of St Gregory. Here, you can stop by to gaze upon a well-known ancient carving within the church, the Adoration of the Magi.
