Hethpool Wild Goat Walk Description
If the aim of your next walk in Northumberland is to take in some wonderful views of the undulating landscape and check out the wildlife, then the Hethpool Wild Goat Walk will be a great option to do so. As the name suggests, you will likely encounter some wild Cheviot Goats along the trail, so come prepared with your camera to grab some fantastic wildlife photos!
Setting out from the trailhead, you will make your way to the northeast along the road until you arrive at the village of Hethpool, at which point you will make your way onto a footpath leading southeast. After a short distance, you will turn left at a junction and follow the path along the valley floor, enjoying the views of the surrounding hills and the Hethpool Linn waterfall along the way.
Eventually, you will meet up with a road and continue on to the northeast to reach the terminus of the route near St Gregory’s Hill. From here, you will backtrack to the southwest and keep left onto St Cuthbert’s Way for an alternate route back to the trailhead. After traversing the lower slopes of Easter Tor and Wester Tor, you will cross over College Burn and arrive back in Hethpool, at which point you can simply follow the road to the southwest on the return to the trailhead.
