Route Description for Olompali State Historical Park Loop

After paying the fee for parking head back towards the iron ranger (this is where you leave the envelope with money to pay the parking fee, it is a small metal pole with a hole to insert your filled-out day registration parking ticket). The Olompali State Park Loop starts near the iron ranger and heads towards a group of buildings.

After you pass the dairy barn you will make a left onto the Lower Mount Burdell Trail.

Continue on the Lower Mount Burdell Trail until you reach a fork in the road, keep right to switch to the Miwok Trail. The Miwok trail will take you back to the dairy barn and from there you can follow Olompali State park Road all the way back to the parking lot.

Insider Hints

  • JJ's Burger Joint is a great place to eat after this hike.

  • The park gates do not open until 9am; plan accordingly.
