Getting there

To get to the Greenhow Walk from Harrogate, take Prospect Place to W Park/A61 and take Skipton Road/A59 to Meagill Lane. Continue on Meagill Ln. Take Greenhow Hill Road and Redlish Road or Blake Gate to Greenhow Hill/B6265, and in 7.7mi, you will arrive at your destination.

Greenhow Walk Description

The Greenhow Walk is a gorgeous stroll that showcases captivating views of the moorlands. Beginning at the car park, follow along the marked path which will take you through multiple gates and stiles as well as a few open fields. Continue to follow the grass path. You will pass the Greenhow cemetery on your right and the quarry entrance to your left. Take a moment to observe the lych gate at the cemetery that was carved by Robert Thompson (the mouse man).

You will begin climbing uphill and will pass the Kipling Cottage anda converted chapel. Moving along, follow the marked path through various gates and along fences until you reach the valley. You will cross along a small stream and pass through the ancient lead mines. Continuing to follow the marked path, you will travel through many more gates, fields and ruins, and then you will come back to the car park where you began as this is a circular walk.
