The Whitbarrow Scar via Lord’s Seat is a nice walking route towards the southern edge of the Lake District that will take you uphill for some pleasant views of the surrounding landscape. While out on the trail, you will pass through a variety of terrain that includes beautiful stretches of forest, exposed hilltops, and open farmland terrain. This walk is great for beginner and casual walkers looking to explore the scenic landscapes of the Lake District without too much difficulty.

Getting there

To reach the parking area for the Whitbarrow Scar via Lord’s Seat Trail from Lindale, drive east on B5277 for 1.2mi and take the second exit at the roundabout onto A590. Follow this for 2.0mi and turn left, where you will find a layby on the right for parking in 375ft.

The Whitbarrow Scar via Lord’s Seat Trail is a popular walking route in the southern part of the Lake District due to its good variety of terrain and charming views of the picturesque English countryside. The trail initially climbs up the hillside through the woodland terrain of Whitbarrow Scar, traversing the summit before pushing onto the next summit viewpoint at Lord’s Seat. Here, you will enjoy some breathtaking views that stretch out across the vast expanse of the Lake District before you. After making a descent along the hillside to the north, the trail will loop around to the south and pass by Witherslack Hall Farm before passing the welcoming Hiker’s Rest Self-Service Cafe. From here, it is a quick walk along the foot of the hill to return to the trailhead where you started.
