Blencathra & Halls Fell Ridge Walk Description

Walking the Blencathra & Halls Fell Ridge Trail will see you traverse some steep, rocky, and uneven terrain along a ridgeline that leads to the summit viewpoint. To get the best footing on the trail, be sure to wear sturdy walking boots with good ankle support and bring poles for stability if need be. Additionally, the car park at the trailhead is fairly small, so arrive early if you want to secure a spot.

Setting out from the car park, the route heads to the north along Blease Gill before turning east along the foot of the mountain until you cross over Gate Gill. From here, you will pass by some mining operations as you climb uphill along the steep ridge in a northeastern direction. After slogging up the rugged terrain of Halls Fell Ridge, you will arrive at the summit viewpoint atop Blencathra, where you will enjoy views of neighbouring fells like Skiddaw and Lonscale. After taking in the views, make your way southeast to begin the steep descent of the mountainside. Once you have reached the foot of the hill, follow the road east to return to the car park where you began.
