Big Pine Trail Description
Little shade exists throughout Big Pine Trail, so ensure you are properly prepared for the elements. We suggest that you bring lots of water with you, and that you wear lots of sunscreen and a good hat to help protect you from the sun. As the Big Pine Trail is fairly long, it is likely not appropriate for young children.
After parking your vehicle at the parking lot, take Maze Loop Trail northeast a few hundred feet until you reach a junction. At the junction, take the southern path along the dried up stream bed. Continue following the Maze Loop Trail as it veers to the east and begins to incline in elevation. Eventually the path will deviate from the dry stream bed before reaching another junction.
At the junction, continue north along a second dry stream bed for a few hundred feet until the path brings you to a third junction. Take the easternmost path onto Big Pine Trail and follow it as it heads northeast and then veers sharply to the east. You will soon reach a plateau where scenic views can be enjoyed. When you have had your fill of the views, backtrack your steps towards the trailhead.
