The trail to Wabasso Lake is a popular hike south of the town of Jasper. The popular campground across the highway is a great jumping off point for this hike. The trail is easy to moderate and manageable for kids due to its minimal elevation gain. Enjoy the marchy lake, and lookout for wildlife!
Getting there
From the town of Jasper, follow Connaught Drive southbound to join the Highway 93N. From here, travel 8.7mi southbound to reach the Wabasso Lake trailhead on the left side. Do not be mistaken by the campground on the right.

Wabasso Lake Trail Description
The Wabasso Lake trail travels through the forest to a marshy lake that feels quite secluded. It has rolling terrain that isn’t ever strenuous or difficult, which makes this perfect for families. Hike along the clear path from the trailhead through the forest. This trail is very easy to follow. After about 1.1mi, you will reach a marshy area, where you might spot some beaver dams. Make your way to the lake and enjoy the solitude before turning back. This trail continues on as a backpacking route to join the famed Skyline trail at Curator Lake.
