Pyramid Island is a stunning, serene trip across a bridge to a scenic, tree-clad island in Pyramid Lake. It’s a short, accessible trail that the whole family can easily enjoy. The view looking down the bridge at the island is a favourite shot in the Jasper area.

Route Description for Pyramid Island

This trail is short and sweet, but it does get busier on the weekends. Try visiting early or midweek for a less crowded experience.

From the parking lot, you’ll be able to see Pyramid Island in the lake. Head down to the lakeshore and approach the bridge. The view looking down the bridge to the island is a highlight of this trail. Cross the bridge and then follow the short, obvious trail that loops around the island. It doesn’t matter which direction you go.

Take some time to sit on the benches, enjoy the view, and relax. You’ll be able to see the peaks of Pyramid Mountain, Mount Kinross, and Cairngorm across the lake.

Once you’re done enjoying the scenery, head back the way you came across the bridge and back to the parking lot.

Insider Hints

  • This is a great location for a family photo. Bring a tripod for your family photo!

  • You can rent canoes at the nearby Pyramid Lake resort. This is a great place for a canoe trip.

The kids' choice award goes to this hike. They love the simplicity and the openness of the area. They love the warmth of the sun so much, and they get more of it from here.
