Hidden Valley is a hike that will take you on a journey through rocky cliffs and over ladders with chain traverses. This easy scramble is an exciting way to spend a half-day and is a lesser-known hike in the Jasper area. Hidden Valley is considered a climber’s paradise but sees very few hikers, so enjoy the solitude on this exciting route.

Hidden Valley Hike Description

Hidden Valley is more commonly known in the rock climbing community, yet it is an excellent hike. If you have spent your time in Jasper tackling some of the larger and more strenuous hikes, this is an excellent add-on. It is short and sweet with fun features and great views.

The trail heads into a canyon towards nearby Syncline Ridge. You’ll begin to see rock climbing routes and colourful climbers scattered along the wall as you hike along the trail. Continue up the canyon and through some smaller gullies that feature a ladder and bolted chain feature installed by the climbing community. Follow the trail and find incredible views of Roche Miette come into view from a small pass before making your way to the ridge. Explore the ridgeline before descending the way you came and following the climber’s trail down to the parking area.

I have both climbed and hiked in this area. The climbing is good but the valley tends to be windy, especially at Basic slabs and Intermediate Slabs. I have hiked to the top of the ridge where you can see the back side of Roche Miette. Its a great hike. The GPX file from this website give you a trail close to Canmore. There does not seem to be any information for this hike as of yet.
