The Dorothy and Christine Lakes trail is a beautiful forested trail west of Jasper. It features stunning lakes and has much less traffic than some of the popular Jasper trails. This is a great way to explore the Yellowhead Highway and the western side of the park.
Getting there
To get to the Dorothy and Christine Lakes trail, travel southbound on Connaught Drive from Jasper. At the junction, turn right onto Highway 16, the Yellowhead Highway. In roughly 6.2mi, turn right onto a dirt road signed for the trail just beyond the Meadow Creek Bridge. Park here and begin your trail from the parking area.

Dorothy and Christine Lake Trail Description
From the trail sign at the Dorothy and Christine Lakes parking lot, hike along the dirt road to an embankment. Cross the railroad tracks here by following the hiker sign to the trail on the other side. 984ft from the trailhead, the trail crosses the Miette River on a footbridge.
The trail climbs steadily on a gradual grade until coming to a junction at 2.7mi. A 1640ft, the side trail on the right leads to the beautiful Virl Lake if you choose to take this. Continue on the main trail for 984ft before meeting Dorothy Lake. Christine Lake is another 984ft from here. Take your time at each of the lakes and return the way you came.
