Lindley Hut and Cooper Creek Road Hike Description

For those who want to get out into the mountains but aren’t concerned with completing an overly challenging or difficult to navigate route, the Lindley Hut and Cooper Creek Road Hike will be a great option to experience the natural beauty of the Elk Mountains.

Setting out from the car park, you will make your way along Cooper Creek Road to the southeast and cross over Castle Creek, following the road alongside the water until you reach the edge of the forest. Here, the road will begin to climb more steeply uphill, as you gain elevation and increasingly more scenic views of the valley.

After winding your way up the forested mountainside, you will find a path branching off to the right. Follow this for a short detour to cross over Cooper Creek and visit Lindley Hut, a popular place for overnight stays in the area. From here, you will head back to the road and continue making your way up the hill for a short distance while enjoying the stunning views of the valley landscape and surrounding mountains, before heading back down the road along the same route to return to the trailhead.
