The Cobbett to Ward Trail is a short but scenic adventure in Grand Mesa, Colorado that will lead you through a lovely bit of woodland terrain to reach the shores of the lake. While out hiking the trail, you will leave the Ward Lake Campground behind and pass through the light forest cover, where you will quickly come to the scenic shores of Cobbett Lake. Although it is extremely short, this route makes for a fun family adventure if you are already camping in the area.
Getting there
The starting point for the Cobbett to Ward Trail can be found along Forest Service Road 121, just 0.5mi east of the Grand Mesa Visitor Centre.

Whether you are looking for an easy-going route to stretch your legs after a long day of driving, or camping nearby and wanting a short trail to take the whole family on, the Cobbett to Ward Trail will be sure to meet your needs.
Setting out from the trailhead at the edge of Forest Service Road 121, you will make your way west and into the cover of the forest. Here, you will enjoy the relaxing atmosphere of the woodland landscape, making your way over a small hill in order to arrive at the beautiful shores of Cobbett Lake. Take some time here to appreciate the views while exploring the surrounding area, before backtracking along the trail on the return to your vehicle.
