The Drumheller Pedestrian Trail is a great cycling and hiking path in the centre of Drumheller. The trail travels along both sides of the Red Deer River and through Midland Provincial Park. The trail can be easily joined from anywhere in town or other points of interests which makes this accessible to all types of hikers.

Getting there

To get to the Drumheller Pedestrian Trail, merge onto AB-838/Dinosaur Trail, and travel towards Midland Provincial Park. Follow signs for the Royal Tyrrell Museum and park in the main parking lot.

Drumheller Pedestrian Trail Description

From the parking lot of the Royal Tyrrell Museum, find the trailhead signs for Drumheller Pedestrian Trail. You will begin your hike on the Badlands Interpretive Trail. Continue past the interpretive trail junction and make your way onto the Drumheller Pedestrian Trail. The trail will eventually cross AB-838 heading southbound to the Red Deer River. Follow along the river’s banks passing day use areas and public restrooms before making it to Midland. Continue on and cross the river on 2 St following the trail on the opposite side of the river. You will be following the Newcastle Trail here. Turn around where you see fit and make your way back to the museum.
