West Bay to Weymouth Trail Description

While it may seem like a long and intense walk, the South West Coast Path: West Bay to Weymouth is actually a fairly laid back experience. With the exception of the 32km overall distance, the trail actually features little in the way of elevation gain. This means that you will be able to effortlessly cover a large amount of ground as you enjoy the beautiful views along the edge of the ocean. While there is one small hill near the midpoint of the walk and one section towards the end that will require you to use a rope to climb uphill, this route is definitely not as tough as it may seem initially.

Setting out from the trailhead, you will make your way to the southeast and meander along the edge of the beach, enjoying the stunning seaside views as you effortlessly traverse the relatively flat trail. Eventually, you will leave the water’s edge behind in order to climb up a small hill near Abbotsbury before meeting back up with the water opposite the Chesil Bank. Enjoy the views along the beach as you walk the final leg into the endpoint of the trail in Weymouth, climbing through the rope section and traversing the final stretch of trail to reach the Chesil Holiday Park.
