Lulworth Cove to Durdle Door and Ringstead Bay Walk Description

Walking the Lulworth Cove to Durdle Door and Ringstead Bay Trail is a scenic journey along the coast; however, you will need to traverse some relatively rugged terrain in order to experience the beautiful views. Make sure to wear proper walking boots with good support to better traverse the trail and bring walking poles to avoid the wear and tear on your knees. You will definitely get a solid workout on this intermediate length route, so bring plenty of water and snacks to stay hydrated and fueled.

Even though it can be challenging at times, there are so many amazing sights along this route that you definitely won’t want to miss out on this scenic walk along the Jurassic Coast. Eschewing the equally beautiful scenery at Lulworth Cove, you will instead make your way west to explore the vantage points overlooking Ringstead Bay and the weathered rocks and arches along the coast. The stunning views here are absolutely worth the effort!

Setting out from the car park, you will head to the west and climb up the slopes of Hambury Tout, taking an elevated pathway to enjoy some scenic views overlooking Man o’ War Cove and the weathered arch of Durdle Door. Don’t worry if you want to get closer to the sights, as the return leg will bring you closer along the water’s edge.

From here, you will continue across the undulating landscape of the coast, briefly approaching the shoreline before climbing uphill to the northwest to reach the viewpoint at White Nothe that overlooks Ringstead Bay to the west. After taking in the views, you will turn back to the east and follow the trail as it leads you downhill towards the water’s edge, where you will soon arrive at the chalk headland known as Bat’s Head.

Continue on to the east, where you will pass by Durdle Door Beach and the magnificent arch of Durdle Door itself, before climbing back up the cliffside on the return to Lulworth Cove to complete your adventure.
