Pulpit Rock Loop Description
The Pulpit Rock Loop is a short but sweet adventure that can be enjoyed by the whole family. Though the path climbs up to the ridgeline of the rock, the terrain is manageable by most. Escape into the fresh air and get your steps in while enjoying the wonderful scenery. Note: this area has an expansive network of unmarked trails. Use the trail GPS to easily navigate the paths, and if you are seeking a more extensive hike, then feel free to explore the routes further. When hiking in the summer months, be mindful of snakes, including rattlers.
To begin your hike around the Pulpit Rock Loop, you will have to depart from the trailhead off North Nevada Avenue. From here, using the trail GPS, head east along the Pulpit Rock Trail. Soon after your departure, you will encounter an intersection. Here, keep left, tracking north through the grasslands. At the next two junctions, take a right. This route will guide you up to the ridgeline of the craggy spires. Navigate the steep path lined with outcroppings and enjoy the view of the cityscape and mountains from here.
Now descending the Pulpit Rock, keep right again at the next few intersections. By keeping right at the junctions, you will eventually arrive back to the initial fork in the road. From here, head left and retrace your steps along the route back to the trailhead.
