Greenlee and Mesa Loop to the Off-Leash Dog Park Description

The Greenlee and Mesa Loop to the Off-Leash Dog Park is an awesome trail in the Red Rock Canyon Open Space that exhibits the grandeur and beauty of the red sandstone bluffs and outcroppings that adorn the terrain. Revel in the sights of the immense cliffs, the Garden of the Gods and the Front Range that lines the horizon. Note the red rocks radiate heat in the summer months, so be sure to pack plenty of water! Additionally, the terrain is uneven and rocky in sections, so wear sturdy footwear to avoid a rolled ankle!

Embark on your adventure along the Greenlee and Mesa Loop to the Off-Leash Dog Park from the Mesa Trailhead. From here, head southwest along the Mesa Trail to an intersection with the Greenlee Trail. From here, track the Greenlee Trail south, past a reservoir and the Lyons Sandstone Quarry. Eventually, you will turn right onto the Roundup Trail, keeping right at the next intersection onto the Mesa Trail. Now atop the mesa, you will be granted epic views of the surrounding landscape, including the cityscape and the looming red cliffs.

Hike the Mesa Trail northeast until you reach the dog park. Here, keep left and hike the Upper Dog Loop Trail through the off-leash dog area. Enjoy the sights of pups zooming around the terrain as you wander around the circuit. When you complete the loop, track the leftmost Mesa Trail back to the trailhead.
