Gateway and Susan G. Bretag Trail Description

The Gateway and Susan G. Bretag Trail is a must-add to your Colorado Spring adventure itinerary. This charming meander through the Garden of the Gods exhibits jaw-dropping scenes of the famous landmarks whilst also delivering epic views of the Front Range. Head out into the fresh air and get your steps in along this epic route. Suitable for hikers of all skill levels and ages, there is no excuse not to explore the geological anomalies that jut from the landscape. Note this area is a crowd favorite, so you will likely have to share the trail with fellow adventurers!

Your trek along the Gateway and Susan G. Bretag Trail begins from the Garden of the Gods Visitors Center. From here, head west along the Gateway Trail, intersecting with North 30th Street. As you wander west, you will be overwhelmed with sits of the sandstone sculptures looming above. Next, follow this path over Juniper Way Loop and into the rock garden, passing through the Gateway Rocks and the Sentinel Spires. Here, take a left turn onto the Central Garden Trail, hiking around the Three Graces and the Pulpit Rock.

Eventually, you will need to take the Palmer Trail over the Juniper Way Loop before tracking north along the outskirts of the park. When you meet the route’s end, connect with the G Susan G. Bretag Trail, which will curve you south, back to an intersection with the Gateway Trail. Here, veer left and retrace your steps along the Gateway Trail back to the trailhead.
