Blue Lake Trail Description

The Blue Lake Trail is one of the most scenic, family-friendly adventures in the Boise National Forest. While this path is short, the terrain is uneven and rugged, obstructed with rocks the whole way down to the lake. For this reason, a sturdy pair of footwear and concentration is needed. While the descent is easy, it inevitably demands a climb back up, so reserve some energy and bring plenty of water. Note the road to the trailhead is subject to seasonal closure.

Embark on your adventure along the Blue Lake Hike from the trailhead off Snowbank Mountain Road. Setting out from here, you will be led southwestwardly into the woodlands and down the rocky path. Minding your footing on the unstable terrain, you will be granted views of the postcard-perfect lake below, the Boise Mountains, and the distant Sawtooth Mountains.

After some hiking, you will reach the western shoreline of the crystalline pool. Revel in the breathtaking scenery of the crystalline lake flanked by granite ridges and lush pines. Admire the beautiful landscape, then head back up the path the way you came.
