Jasper National Park
A trip to Jasper National Park is definitely a bucket list destination for any adventure lover. Jasper National Park – a vast wilderness filled with mountains, lakes, glaciers, waterfalls, hot springs, and of course an abundance of wildlife – is the largest National Park in Canada and covers over 11,000 km2. We love a trip to Jasper any month of the year.
The quaint alpine town of Jasper is, in itself, a real gem to visit. It is a historic small town in the middle of the wilderness, full of great coffee shops and restaurants. The perfect afternoon activity for any first-time visitor is to stop in at the Jasper Yellowhead Museum and Archives to learn about its history through various artifacts. Of course, a day in town could also be complimented with a trip to a gallery or the planetarium and completed with a meal at one of the wonderful restaurants along the high street.
Throughout the town and the park there are all levels of accommodations. From local campgrounds to the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, you will be sure to find something to your taste. Our favourite are the numerous options to stay in cozy cabins dotted throughout the park. These wonderful log cabins are great for families.
A holiday to Jasper National Park would not be complete without an outdoor adventure, no matter the season, the options are plentiful! In the colder months, a trip to Marmot Basin should not be missed. Boasting the highest base elevation in all of Canada, it is a must do for any downhill enthusiasts! Winter activities are certainly not limited to downhill, you can get out and explore the park on snowshoes, skis, a snowmobile, or get in some skating or ice climbing.
The warmer months are equally full of activity – climbing, hiking, biking, and even diving are just a few of limitless options for outdoor adventure seekers.
If you are planning a trip to the Canadian wilderness, be sure to add Jasper to the shortlist!
