The Cameron Lake Hike is a wonderful, scenic stroll for a warm summer day. With constant views of the lake, beach, and Mount Custer at nearly every point of this beautiful, easy shoreline walk, this is pure nirvana.
Getting there
Travelling south through Waterton on AB-5, turn right onto Akamina Parkway. Travel 9.9mi until the end of the road at the Cameron Lake parking lot. As you’re facing Cameron Lake, look for the trail running along the right (West) side of the lake.

Cameron Lake Trail Description
The Cameron Lake Trail runs along the western shore of the lake and is level, short, and very scenic. It’s a wonderful option for hikers of all ages. From the parking lot, head toward the dock andturn down the path that branches to the right. Initially, picnic tables line the walkway, and on a warm day, all of them will be in use. You will soon leave the crowds behind as you continue on.
The trail enters the shelter of the forest as it hugs the shoreline and you will have excellent views of the lake while enjoying the shade. The boardwalks and a well-maintained trail, provide excellent walking conditions. The trail only occasionally leaves the shoreline, allowing for constant sweeping views.
At 1.1mi the Cameron Lake Hike ends at an interpretive viewing platform. A well worn path from the trail to the lakeshore provides the closest view on foot of the dominant peak on the south end of the lake: Mount Custer in Glacier National Park, Montana. Be sure to scan the lower slopes for grizzlies.
After enjoying the views, return the way you came.

A rod and tackle will be put to good use in this well-stocked lake.
A boat rental facility means the picturesque scene will include kayakers, people in canoes and paddle boarders. Families picnic on the shore, while some brave the frigid water. We recommend partaking in some of these great activities if you have the time!
For those renting boats, two hours should allow enough time to cross the lake and enjoy closer views of the avalanche paths and Mount Custer on the south end of the lake.

There are so many activities you can do here. You can have a picnic on the shore. You can also rent boats to cross the lake and enjoy the view of the avalanche paths. I will definitely visit this place again.
