The Dubois Recreation Area Scenic Overlook Hike is a wonderful hike that travels through the painted hills of red, white, and beige whilst boasting distant views of the Wind River Mountain Range. Single-track and shared with bikers, it is important to be respectful of like-minded explorers passing by! Offering breathtaking scenery, the exposed terrain warrants extreme conditions, so check the forecast and dress accordingly! Note the path is not well signposted, so use the trail GPS.
Setting out from the parking lot, the Dubois Recreation Area Scenic Overlook Hike heads northwardly along Overlook Road. Using the trail GPS, you will be guided up the layered hill, up to the overlook, which offers incredible views of the town and the Wind River Range. From here, you will be guided back down along the Overlook Road and out onto the Rise and Schiner Trail.
Loop around this path, then reconnect with the Overlook Road. Turn left here, then retrace your steps back to the trailhead.
