This loop is a shorter take on the longer Coach Whip hike so it’s a nice pick if you have small kids and need a shorter outing. You’ll want some sturdy boots for this one as this area is rocky. Expect fairly light traffic.

The Coach Whip Mini Loop is a short and sweet hike in the Thunderbird Conservation Park in Glendale. This park is mostly enjoyed by locals who live nearby, so it doesn’t usually get too busy. This shorter take on the Coach Whip hike skips some of the steeper and rockier terrain, and it’s more kid-friendly. Any skill level can explore this trail.
Remember to pack water with you. Users report rattlesnake encounters in this area, so keep your eyes and ears open as you hike and remember to keep dogs leashed.
From the trailhead, take H1 Trail towards the hill and follow it as it approaches the base of the hill to your left. You’ll take a right to cross the road and then another right to return to the trailhead along H1 Trail. Hopefully the road is quiet when you’re around!
