Seeking a quick, but scenic adventure in Yosemite? The Carlon Falls Trail is an excellent hike that boasts impressive scenery and a secluded experience. Wander alongside the South Fork of the Tuolumne River to a charming cascade nestled amongst a mixed pine forest. Easy-going and quick, this trek is ideal for those with kids or anyone simply looking to get out and enjoy the fresh air. Note: there are a few rocks that decorate the trail, so mind your footing and wear a sturdy pair of footwear. The National Park also charges visitors an entrance fee, check out the NPS website for a pricing guide.
Your journey along the Carlon Falls Trail begins from the trailhead off Evergreen Road. From here, begin tracking southeast along the Carlon Falls Trail, following it past the campground and into the wilderness. As you wander, be sure to breathe in the fresh air and enjoy the sweet smell of the looming pines. As you hike the path it will pass through some mildly undulating terrain, before requiring a steep ascent and descent just before the falls. There may also be a few fallen trees to navigate, but that is all part of the fun, right?
As you near the falls, you will be rewarded with the sounds of the cascading waters. Revel in the beauty of Carlon Falls and dip your toes in the cool, clear waters. Explore the falls and the granite outcrops that bound the water. When you are ready, retrace your footing along the path back to the trailhead.
