Ruth Lake Trail Description
The hike to Ruth Lake is an excellent family outing in the beautiful Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest east of Park City, Utah. The trail itself is well maintained but has a few rocky sections, so be sure to wear proper hiking footwear. In the early spring, this trail can be mucky and icy. We recommend bringing along a set of traction devices such as microspikes if you plan on hiking in the early season.
For little legs or beginner hikers, the Ruth Lake Trail is an excellent way to get out and start exploring the beauty of the Utah wilderness. The trail itself is not challenging and offers incredible views the whole way. At the end of the hike, you can even cool off with a refreshing swim in this pristine alpine lake.
From the parking area along Highway 150, follow the Ruth Lake Trail west along Hayden Fork. Stay right at the trail divide to continue to the lake itself. At Ruth Lake, take a relaxing stroll around the lakeshore before following the same trail back to the parking lot where you began.
If you are blown away by the beauty of Ruth Lake, consider bringing along a tent and spending the night lakeside under the Utah stars.
